Tone Control Mod

Standard tone control wiring; move the mouse off to see the mod.
Here's a simple and (for me) essential strat tone control mod. It gives a tone control where it's really needed, dedicated to the bridge pickup. The other two pickups share the first tone control.

Leave the green wire connected to the switch (mid pickup lug) and snip it about a half inch from there. Connect the short end to the neck pickup lug, and the long end to the bridge lug. It doesn't get easier that that!

To see the before and after wiring, move your mouse over the above image. The image will change as you move your mouse on and off it.

I typically roll the bridge control off to about 7, and leave the neck/mid control at or near 10.
